Expedia Trips and Travel Deals

Vacations are fun, but flights are expensive. Maybe you have been bitten by the travel bug, need a break from work, or are planning a trip with your friends from college – whatever it is, you don’t want to dish out thousands for flights, hotels, and activities. That’s where Expedia comes in.

What is Expedia?

Expedia is a website that offers customers deals on flights, hotels, cruises, cars, and more. It is a full travel agency and metasearch engine, meaning that you can search for, book, and claim your tickets all through the website. Part of the Expedia Travel Group, Expedia.com is one of many of the Expedia Travel Group companies. Other companies include Orbitz, Trivago, Hotels.com, and Travelocity. Expedia works by crowdsourcing and consolidating the best deals for you. That way, instead of searching through all the different airlines, you can just go to Expedia and know that they’ve already done the work for you.

Like most other third-party booking sites, Expedia does charge a booking fee ranging from $2.99-$12.99. Since you’ll be saving with Expedia’s travel deals, however, the booking fee will likely be less than the price you would have paid if you booked through the airlines. One nice thing about Expedia is their member perks program, a rewards program that allows you to earn points when booking through them.

Expedia offers something called “Expedia’s Best Price Guarantee.” Through their metasearch engine, they compare and contrast all the different deals offered on the internet and make sure their price is the best price offered. When you book through Expedia, their Best Price Guarantee policy ensures that you’re being offered the best prices possible.

Expedia Travel Deals

Expedia offers a variety of travel deals, ranging from the aforementioned flight deals and hotel deals, as well as cruises, cars, and other vacation rentals. The most popular deals are flight deals and hotel deals, so we’ll focus on those here.

First, however, let’s take a look at the trip ideas and travel deals Expedia offers. If you know you want to go on a vacation but aren’t quite sure how to plan it, take a look at Expedia’s deal page. On the page, you’ll find various recommendations and offers for potential upcoming trips. The price per person of hotel and flights are laid out on the page, but by clicking through the destinations you can learn more about the details.

Expedia Flight Deals

As Expedia was founded in 1996, it is one of the oldest travel agencies and metasearch engines on the internet. It is widely used as just a flight search engine and offers a variety of flight deals. You can search for a round trip, one way, or even multi city flight through the search engine. By crowdsourcing all of the different travel sites and airline offerings, Expedia helps customers find the cheapest flight deals.

One way you can save even more is through the Expedia Bargain Fare. When you are searching for a flight, you may be offered an Expedia Bargain Fare. It will show you the full price, but the flight details are withheld until after you book. You’ll get an overview of the flight offerings, which can come in the form of a range of hours (i.e. flight between 5 a.m. – 9 a.m.), but won’t see the exact details. You also will see a range of layovers (i.e. 0-2 layovers) instead of the exact number.

If details don’t matter and you’re booking a last-minute flight or need the cheapest one available, Expedia Bargain Fare might be the best choice for you.

Expedia Hotel Deals

Expedia hotel deals are another commonly used feature of the site. You enter your destination, party size, and check in/check out dates and that’s it! You’ll be able to see a variety of options for different prices and types of hotels, with good deals guaranteed. There is also an option to search for multiple places to stay.

Expedia Travel Packages/Bundles

A nice part of Expedia is that it can be a one-stop-shop for all of your travel needs. If you choose to buy packages or bundles through Expedia, you’ll likely save even more money. Expedia offers even more discounts when you buy more than just one part of your trip with them, especially when you’re booking flights and hotels together. On Expedia you can bundle cars, flights, and hotels, in any combination that you’d like.

How Multi-City Flights Work

Multicity flights are exactly what they sound like – instead of buying a one way or round trip ticket, you can add multiple stops on your trip. For example, if you’d like to go to Barcelona from Los Angeles, but want to stop in Las Vegas for three days, you can find the cheapest way to do this through the multi city option. It’s a great choice if you want a long layover in a city or if you know you’ll be hitting multiple stops on your trip.

While you can’t book packages with Expedia’s multi city flights, if you end up booking the other parts of your trip (i.e. hotel, car) through Expedia, you can keep all of your bookings in one place.

Is Expedia Reliable?

With any third-party site, it’s always important to make sure that the site is reliable. Luckily, you won’t have to worry about that with Expedia. Expedia is a well-known, reputable, and trusted site. It has been running for years and is trusted by millions of users. As a bonus, there is also no Expedia cancellation fee within a certain time period, so if you have to change plans, Expedia allows you to do so – just make sure you do so in the allotted time frame.

As you can see, Expedia is a straightforward travel agency that can help you find deals for your next upcoming vacation. With a site like Expedia, there’s no reason not to take that next trip.
